Why is the milka chocolate cow lilac?
I%26#039;m going to have to take your word for it because they don%26#039;t advertise it here in Norway. Still, at least I can avoid any more escapades of retired yorkshiremen sliding down a hill in a motorised bathtub.etc.... Report It

I would like to grow a Lilac bush. Can I do this from another bush? They cost too much in the store. Pam?
I have planted seads from a bush last year, they started to grow and then all died.
I would like to grow a Lilac bush. Can I do this from another bush? They cost too much in the store. Pam?
find someone with a lilac bush that is sending up suckers (small lilacs growing up from the big tree) Dig one of the suckers up and make sure it has a long tap root with little spider roots coming off it. Plant this in some potting soil and make sure you keep it moist.
My family and friends have started quite a few doing this.
Reply:Like others have explained get a start from the base of another bush. they%26#039;re pretty simple to grow. Go ahead and plant it in the ground where you want to keep it. sad to say that it takes three years before they bloom but it%26#039;s worth the trouble just to smell them in the air. they live for a hundred years plus. i just got another start from an old friend. mine is blue and the new is white. give lots of water until the plant is established then it will be care free.
Reply:Give them LOTS of water.
Reply:Yes, just get some rooting powder and dip the end of a cut or pulled-off shoot from a bush into it, then plant it in a pot of well fertilised soil and make sure you keep it well watered until roots grow, then plant out.
Reply:Go see one of your neighbours that HAS lilacs and ask them for a %26#039;sucker%26#039; from the bottom of their bush. If you are careful digging it up and cutting it off of the parent plant, you will have a successful lilac transplant.

Anyone ever make wine out of lilac bloosoms?
Yes. It was very bitter. Maybe as an adjunct to a light wine so the great bouquet isn%26#039;t overpowered. It didn%26#039;t smell like lilacs though it was bright.

Have you ever grown a lilac bush in a container?
I have a beautiful lilac that I have potted in a 16%26quot; container, and it looks great. It%26#039;s outside, and I live in Zone 7-which can have cold temps to 10 degrees. It would be really pretty in a half barrel too.
Have you ever grown a lilac bush in a container?
Yes. I have. When it gets too big though, you need to find a bigger pot or plant it outside. If you plant it outside, in the summer, watch out for bees. It attracts them very much so.

How do I prune mature lilac bushes and get new shoots to grow?
I have two lilacbushes that are probably forty years old and twenty feet high. I cut off some of the old stems near the base last year understanding that new shoots would come up. They didn%26#039;t. My understanding was that the new shoots would produce flowers in two years. Any suggestions as to what went wrong?
How do I prune mature lilac bushes and get new shoots to grow?
Maybe the new shoots didn%26#039;t come up because they were pruned at the wrong time. Usually, pruning should be done immediately after the flowers have died off.
Hard pruning is done in late winter ...March or early April... to induce shoots to develop during the growing season.
%26quot;cut back the overgrown shrubs over a three-year period. Begin the procedure by removing one-third of the large, old stems at ground level in late winter. The following year (again in late winter), prune out one-half of the remaining old stems. Also, thin out some of the new growth. Retain several well-spaced, vigorous stems and remove all the others. Finally, remove all of the remaining old wood in late winter of the third year. Additional thinning of the new shoots should also be done. Since lilac wood needs to be 3 or more years of age before it blooms, this pruning method should allow you to enjoy flowers every spring. This is my usual mode of rejuvenation pruning lilacs.%26quot;

The easiest way is to dig up a sucker growing at the base of the plant. Cuttings are more difficult. Check out this site for more info on using a cutting:

Help, my one year old lilac trees were hit hard by snow in iowa. will they come back?
They should. Give them a few months, look for new growth, trim out anything that is dead.
Help, my one year old lilac trees were hit hard by snow in iowa. will they come back?
In Canada, lilacs are hit hard with snow and blizzard all the time and they come up every year. Don%26#039;t worry yours will be fine. I pulled up one shoot 2 years ago and put it on a pot and it%26#039;s doing great outside on -45 C. I just noticed it%26#039;s budding already (yesterday).
Reply:Take it from me you cannot kill a lilac tree !!!!!!
Reply:Lilacs are very hardy. My mom accidently split one in half when the side-shoot on the mower ripped a twin trunk apart. Now we have *two* lilac trees. Depending on when your trees were hit with snow (during the winter--doesn%26#039;t matter, during the spring--you%26#039;ll get a later bloom OR during the spring with the blooms--blooms will die off but you will still get healthy foilage), the results will vary, but your trees will not die.

I had already trimmed back all of my plants that get trimmed yearly and they are doing good so far.The snow acts like an insulation barrier for them.

How can I grow a Lilac bush from another bush and wisteria from another?
You can propogate Lilac and Wisteria by rootings cuttings from Lilac and Wisteria plants. If you are new to gardening, this is a very difficult thing to do. It takes practice, and a fiar amount of failure, before you can do it well.
The very simplfied version is to take small cuttings from the mother plant - dip them in rooting hormone, and place them in your very carefully prepared %26quot;nursery%26quot; pot - upon which you will need to dote with keeping warm, keeping the humidity right, with the right amount of air circulation so it doesn%26#039;t rot.
If you are really interested in doing this - get a book from the library on plant propogation. It will have detailed info, for a handful of different methods (there are several).
How can I grow a Lilac bush from another bush and wisteria from another?
Lilacs put out %26quot;suckers%26quot; from the root system. You can usually dig one of these up with some roots on it and you%26#039;re in business.
For the wisteria, I would suggest a method called layering. Take a side vine and scrap off some of the bark about a foot or two from the end of the vine. Get some rooting powder and sprinkle some on the exposed cambium (the green, yellow, or tan layer exposed after you remove the bark), then bury that in a pot and set a brick on top to keep it in place. I%26#039;m not sure how long wisteria take, but after about a month, check and see if it has developed any roots.
If so, cut it off behind the roots and plant in potting soil until it develops a good root system. Then it should be ready to plant next spring.
Reply:I am not to sure about wisteria but with a lilac all you need is a shoot from the old bush, might be the same with wisteria. Make sure new shoot has established itself first (has green leaves on it).
Reply:All you have to do is get a start off of each plant and make sure you get the root and plant it, God will take care of the rest, we never put anything on ours and they have done really well.

Can I grow Wisteria and Lilac in North Texas and when is the best time to plant them?
Yes they grow very well in North Texas. Right now is the time to plant them. I%26#039;m from North Texas. Lilacs grow very well here.
Can I grow Wisteria and Lilac in North Texas and when is the best time to plant them?
Wisteria grows in East Texas so I expect it to grow in North Texas.
I don%26#039;t think lilacs will. They need a milder climate. We have tried them but with no luck.
Reply:I am in zone 7 Fort Smith AR. Are you zone 8? Wisteria grows like crazy here so I am sure they would grow there. But lilacs don%26#039;t do so well. I grew up zone 5 and you would see them everywhere. I haven%26#039;t seen a healthy lilac here yet. They all seem to get powdery mildew if they survive the heat at all.

Help please! coffee stain on lilac carpet. what will get it out?
Try Oxy Clean it works on coffee stains .I do however suggest you test it on a spot before you use it over a big area because some fabrics take to it differently.... : )
Reply:stain devil coffee stain remover
Reply:There are products on the market which will do a great job. The rule of thumb is to find out if the stain is an acid or a base. If it is a base, you get a cleaner that is acid. Conversely, if it is an acid, you get a cleaner that is base. This is called neutralization.
Coffee is an acid so you need to get a cleaner that is a base to neutralize it. This will make sure you don%26#039;t discolor or ruin the carpet fibers especially the fibers which are in the nap unseen to naked eye. The PH factor of the cleaning solution is what will neutralize the acid. Talk to the hardware store for more info.
Reply:I use resolve carpet cleaner, for spots, and stains, it works really well.. Spray the spot real good, let it soak, for about 30 minutes, then get a putty knife, and scrape over the stain, gently. That will loosen it up.. Take a few paper towels, lay them down on the spot, and put some pressure on them, to soak it up good.. Then spray it again, and go over it, with a scrubbing brush, and repeat the first step. The carpet should be clean, now, just vacuum the spot to get any loose particles..Looks good now!!! Good Luck..

We have a medium size lilac bush!!?
My wife love the flowers,%26amp; smell. But the last 6 to 10 days, Its been negleted for years, what should I start doing to help it thrive%26amp;produce!!
We have a medium size lilac bush!!?
Yes yes, you do need to prune it. But not too much. What you mostly want to do it to remove the spent flowers. This will not only encourage new flowers, but also healthier growth later on. Check out the pruning link below, hopefully it will help you out!.
Also, digging in some compost wouldn%26#039;t hurt!
Reply:Prune it, but only AFTER it blooms next spring. Otherwise, you%26#039;ll be cutting off the potential blooms, and you won%26#039;t get anything in spring 2008.
Reply:Since it is a well %26#039;set%26#039; plant, you just need to Prune it back every year, You can cut back (prune) severely up to 1/3 of the old stems in an old neglected plant ,or do it semi severe over 2 or 3 years to improve amount of blooms the next year, prune so as to allow plenty of light thru out the bush, 5 hrs sunlight is required so the shadier the area the more pruning required to get enough light for plant needs. In full sun a fuller bushier plant will still thrive,
Dead head the blooms, ( pick dead blooms off immediately to get more blooms per season) pick plenty of flowers (it is kin to pruning,) to keep he blooms in the house fresh for longer smash the stems some and add a half tsp of bleach to the water to prevent rot.
Keep soil slightly acid, do this with having good drainage and adding coffee grounds and peat moss to the soil around the plant and mulch heavily this does two things, retains moisture and prevents suckers from overgrowing and draing the main bush..
also, since the blooming season IS very short, plant other climbing plants around and under lilac to usethe lilac as a trellis and keep a bloom of some kind coninuing thru the season, sweat peas, clemantis or passion flowers do well.

Shoes, bag etc for a lilac prom dress?
Hiya i have got my prom coming up and i have bought this dress
http://preview.tinyurl.com/24duju
But i have no idea what colour or style of shoes and stuff to get to wear with it :/
I have blonde hair and pale skin if that matters, but does anyone have any ideas?
Thanks in advance
Shoes, bag etc for a lilac prom dress?
oh my god that is a gorgeous dress. you should definitly wear silver with that. silver ( if you can walk in them) stilleto shoes. bring some silver ballet pumps too for when your feet get tired. silver clutch bag. and a siver pendant necklace(try the newbridge silverware website for ideas).
Reply:That dress is very cute.
:D
There are a varity of colors that would match the dress.
Silver, creamy off-whites, pastel spring-ish colors exluding green. Trying to stay away from bold colors since the dress looks very light.
Try using those for the bags and shoes.
A bag with thin straps and dangly bead work would look good and for the shoes nearly any heeled danty shoe would work.
Then a simple droplet necklace would polish the look off.

Happy hunting~
Reply:Silver strappie heels and a white/silver clutch.
Reply:Silver or gold strappy high heel sandals %26amp; matching bag. Make sure straps %26amp; bag are tiny. Have fun! :)
Reply:That is a beautiful dress! I suggest a white clutch for your purse/bag and white heels (the height of these depend on your own height) that have those ribbons that tie up your legs. They don%26#039;t need to be expensive as the dress will make your whole outfit look priceless.
Keep the accessories simple, to show that you%26#039;re wearing the dress, instead of the opposite!
Have fun at your Prom! :)

I want to trim my lilac bush. What is the best time of year and conditions (leaves or no leaves)?
Lilacs flower on buds found on the tips of the branches. Pruning now, especially tip pruning will eliminate the flowers this spring. However, it is easier to see the mess inside the lilac now. You can prune at the base only by removing the oldest stems at the ground level (the wood is very hard, your pruning equipment better be sharp) and pull it out. Also you can remove a fair amount of the suckers that have been coming up these last few years. Above all, NO CUTTING on the tips of the remaining branches. This will save flowers for this spring. After the plant blooms, you have about 90-100 days before new buds are formed on the tips with the flowing year%26#039;s flowers. So it%26#039;s OK to tip prune right AFTER flowering up until July 4th or so.
I want to trim my lilac bush. What is the best time of year and conditions (leaves or no leaves)?
Late fall when leaves have fallen. You probably won%26#039;t have as many flowers in the spring though.
Reply:trim it when it is dormant, basically late fall or early spring.
Reply:No leaves. When Spring comes back around the leaves and new stems with fill in the empty areas.
Reply:Hello,
Right after they flower is best.
We took quite a few babies and planted them in the fall, well Mr. did I kind of watched lol! .
Mr is the lilac person here, and we have huge ones! We seam to give away babies every year in the fall.
He would not touch them right now he is saying we have very cold temps here. Depends what zone you are in etc.

How can I save my Lilac Tree from dying?
We tried cuting off branches that looked like they were already dying but now the rest of the tree looks like its ready to die.
How can I save my Lilac Tree from dying?
How does one kill a lilac????..I chop mine back every couple years and it comes back like crazy. The roots send up shoots and it is almost invasive. Try chopping it back, right now, to about 12%26quot;, and see what happens this season. If it starts growing back , leave it and it should bloom next spring. if not, dig it up and replace it with one of the new yellow or white varieties....good luck.
Reply:don%26#039;t assume it%26#039;s dead. many plants sometimes look dead, but are just in need of some TLC. give it water, but not too much - the dirt should be moist when you touch it, not dry or too wet. try watering it every-other day. make sure it%26#039;s near sun light to help it grow. sunlight is very important. you may also want to think about giving it some fertilizer or plant food. also, talk to your plant. remember it is a living thing and it craves attention. use a soothing voice to make it feel loved. i know this sounds crazy, but it works. i%26#039;ve seen my grandmother do this all my life and, i swear, she brings plants back from the dead. she says it%26#039;s the attention you give them that make them want to live and be beautiful.
Reply:Always scratch the stem / bark of a tree / plant to see if there is green under the bark before you assume it is dead.
Now sure why you think is dying as you give no information - I sure hope it is not!
Reply:It%26#039;s really hard to know what is killing the tree without more information, but it sounds like a disease is spreading in it, and it might not be possible to save it. If it were insects you probably could see them if you looked close, and if it were a water issue it probably would not be losing one branch at a time.
Reply:lilac tree? you meant bush right? if they are bushes, they are pretty hearty bushes so give it awhile before you condemn it. if all else fails, hack it off right at ground level next spring it should start all over again.

HELP!!!???
I planted a Miss Kim lilac on Sunday and today the leaves are drooping is this shock or something else? Please
could be but also could be they are lacking water if you planted it in diect sun it might require more water then you are giving it try watering it everyday for a couple of weeks and see what happens
Reply:use miracle grow once a week, All Pupose one that way you can feed every thing it workd great.
Reply:It could be shock but unless you had a drastic drop in temp. I doubt it. Make sure that the dirt is packed down very good around it, sometimes it settles and may get air pockets which will make it wilt and die.Be sure to keep it very moist the first couple weeks so that the roots get a good start. Hope this helps, I just planted 4 lilacs myself this weekend. Good luck.
Reply:It could be transplant shock.
Try watering it with %26quot;Upstart%26quot; fertilizer. It is water soluble- you mix it with water following the directions.
I always use it when planting new plants.
It helps prevent transplant shock.
Also, have you been watering it daily? New plants need the moisture- not to be drowned but watered thoroughly for the first season.
Reply:Without knowing how you planted it, or whether it was bare root or in a pot, I%26#039;m guessing. Plants that are simply transplanted out of a pot into a properly prepared hole rarely go into shock. Possible problems could be lack of moisture... you always dig your hole exactly as deep as the rootball, and twice as big around. Backfill and then saturate the ground until it won%26#039;t take any more water. This will help ensure that any trapped air will be forced to the surface, and allow the dirt to settle in tight. If the roots dry out even a little, it will wilt.
Miracle Grow sucks, frankly. If you have a garden center in town, see if they have a liquid fertalizer that is seaweed based. It will smell gawdawful but seaweed contains a natural hormone that assists in root growth. You can mix up about a gallon mix (should be about 2-4 oz of liquid to a gallon of water, and liberally soak the base of the plant down.
If they don%26#039;t have that, ask for a root stimulator. Hi Yield puts out one that%26#039;s under $5 a bottle, and the bottle makes something like 35 gallons worth. It will help the roots start growing much faster.

How can I kill a lilac bush? The roots are growng into my septic system & causing problems.?
You have to work at it. Cut all the new branches and shoots, that%26#039;s where the new growth is. You will have to keep at it for a few weeks in spring. Towards the end of summer, it will start going into winter mode. Before the gound freezes, cut the bushes down and pull out as much of the root as possible. If you don%26#039;t care if the area is plantable for anything else, you can try bleach or saline solution, or the brand-name treatments you can find at Lowes, Home Depot, Wal-Mart, etc.

Need to find some purple/lilac and cream flower arragements/bouquets and garland for my wedding please HELP!?
Orchids come in both of those colors. Also look into roses as now you can find them in just about every color. Also peonies, tulips and many types of lilies(there are some nice purple callas). I chose all orchids for my bouquet and my colors are similar- lavender/white.
Also, here are some websites to get some ideas. There are tons more sites out there if you want to take the time to look. I know that I spent many days looking at sites and pics before I knew what I wanted. And as for garland, Ivy goes well with most everything. You could also use vine for garland and also mini lights. Good luck

How do I get my Lilac bush to have more flowers next year?
I have two larger, older bushes, and they both only flowered a little towards the top of the bush. I was told to prune them back and I did a few years ago but I might not have done it right cause it didn%26#039;t make any differance the next year or any year after. Is there a special way to prune them or something else entirly to do to make them flower?
How do I get my Lilac bush to have more flowers next year?
The bigger the plant the more energy it expends on growth and maintaining itself: cut it down some more.
Reply:Also, make sure you prune them at the right time of year - right after they are done flowering. To make sure you get the most blooms next year, remove the spent blooms this year.
Good luck!
Reply:Hi, As was all ready stated, prune as soon as the flowers pass.
Dead wood is a problem also. Go into the middle of the bush down towardes the roots and prune any oldr plant stalks out. Then give the suckers time to regrow and life is good.
Also lilacs need lime, they hate an acid soil, If you wish call the local extention service question. line, PLEASE DO

How do I get my Lilac Crowned Amazon Parrot to stop pulling out his tail feathers?
I%26#039;ve gone through this with both my Senegal and my African Grey.
First take it to the vet and have it tested to make sure there is nothing wrong.
If there is nothing wrong then provide it with LOTS of toys and things to distract it.
That may or may not work. My African Grey doesn%26#039;t pick so much anymore but my Senegal has been pulling his tail feathers out since he was a baby. He is 11 years old now. Pulling out his tail feathers is a habit similar to nail biting and he just won%26#039;t stop...

What do the lyrics in "Lilac Wine" mean?
thanks!
What do the lyrics in %26quot;Lilac Wine%26quot; mean?
The lyrics describe the heady feeling of being in love, of being %26quot;hypnotised by a strange delight%26quot;. The narrator remembers being in love, and is reminded of it by drinking lilac wine he (or she) made at the time
I think it%26#039;s about suicide. Lilac leaves are poisonous, and he makes a wine of it and drinks it to die and join his lover, who has already died. (Think Romeo and Juliet). But then those last lines..%26quot;I feel unready for my love%26quot;. ..haunting and so moving.

As you read look for basic points: Who, Where, What, When, How, and Why. In this case, Nancy Drew visited an old inn and some diamonds went missing. Can you remember why she was in danger? Can you remember how she solved the case? Also, please talk to your English teacher and guidance counselor at school about getting help with reading comprehension. There are some companies that publish reading comprehension guides for some of the more popular books. Check: www.progenypress.com and www.teachercreatedmaterials.com.

How do I get my Lilac bush to bloom? It's three yrs. old and still no flowers?
Young, immature, lilac bushes sometimes take 3 or 4 years to bloom for the first time. If it was transplanted from a pot or from another location, it will take 2 yrs to produce again. Hopefully you planted in a sunny location as they like full sun for best flowering results. They like moist soil, but not too soggy, with a soil that drains well. The soil PH also may have an affect on it%26#039;s flowering. Here is a link with some good info on why lilacs sometimes fail to bloom. Hope this answers your question..

Reply:May be, it just hasn%26#039;t come of bearing age.
Reply:Must need feeding. Try your local garden center for the proper one.
Reply:Change the mud......
Reply:Three is still young for a Lilac. Be patient, it will get there eventually - and when it does, the bloom will be all the more appreciated since you had to wait...
Reply:OK.
1. Is your Lilac planted A. Deep Shade B. Shade
C. Partial Shade or D. Full Sun
2. Do you know the pH of your soil? A. Yes. B. No.
3. Have you ever applied granular, pulverized, or pelletized lime around the bush, immediately after loosening the soil? A. Yes B. No
4. Have you ever put compost around the bush, and or did you use some in the hole when you planted it? A. Yes B. No
5. Have you ever fertilized the bush with a balanced fertilizer containing macro, micro, and trace nutrients? A. Yes B. No
6. In the three years, how often have you watered the bush. A. Frequently B. Infrequently. C. One in awhile. D. It needs water?
1. D. You need full sun.
2. Don%26#039;t need exact, but plant likes sweet soil so go to 3. and choose one. All will work.
4. This is very important. Organic matter, matters. Get a bag, loosen the soil around the shrub, pour some around and work in with #3 and #5.
6. Watering is suggested about once a week in the spring, twice weekly in the summer, and once weekly from Sept. to Nov.
The major limiting factor as to why this bush is not blooming is: Not enough sun. This is assuming it has strong leaf growth, just no blooms. Otherwise, some other physical issues may be going on.

Reply:Lets face it,milk %26amp; associated dairy products are just a little boreing so the Ghengis Khans of milk must feed the beast (you/me)
Reply:Well Milka chocolate originates from Switzerland where the cows are reared in the alps and live primarily on a diet of heather (the purple wild flower) over the years these cows have actually evolved to have small lilac marks on their fur. It works in much the same way that if humans eat loads of carrots their skin tends to get an orangey tone to it. Obviously the cows aren%26#039;t lilac all over, quite to the extent in the commercial... they have made it a full on lilac cow but that%26#039;s artistic licence for you.

How do you get a lilac to produce more flowers?
It%26#039;s about five years old, and has only bloomed the last couple of years. At that, it only produces about 15 flowers..If I cut it back when the flowers die, will that encourage more flowers for the next year?

Reply:Lilacs will not bloom when they are not getting enough sun. I placed one in filtered shade and it did not do anything until the neighbors cut down a tree and more light reached it - by then it was pretty large to move but it now blooms on the tips that get more sun. So I bought a new small one and placed it farther out away from the oaks and it blooms just fine now - trim back some of the shade or move it to sunnier quarters. They will also not bloom if they get too much fertilizer, if they are planted too deeply (you can try pulling some soil back from the base if the other problems do not see to apply) and they will not bloom the following year if you cut them hard or cut them in late summer or later. One of these is probably the problem.

How do you kill nuisance lilac bushes?
There is no such thing as nuisance lilac.
All lilacs are beautiful.
But an herbicide would kill it roots and all.

Reply:That%26#039;s an oxymoron in my book!!!! Lilac bushes are NOT a nuisance!!!
Reply:Any weed killer poured at the base of the plant where it will reach the roots should kill the plant within 3 months. We accidentally got too close to our lilac when treating the grass for weeds, so a normal weed protection dosage should do it.
Reply:Lilac bush is not a nuisance, but its suckers are. You are talking about suckers popping up everywhere near the bush, right? Mine does the same, but I just pull or cut them off at the ground level as soon as I see it. I don%26#039;t think you can do much about it. If you use chemicals, it might kills the whole bush.

How can I grwo a Lilac bush and wisteria from other plants?
Yahoo %26quot;Air Layering%26quot;. It is a process by which you take an in-ground plant of similar structure, make a %26quot;T%26quot; shaped slit in a branch and apply a slip or small cutting of the parasite plant under the host%26#039;s bark. Then wrap the wound containing the applied slip and the host branch with gardener%26#039;s tape or bind a handful of moss around the wound with a light weight gage wire.
You may have to make several attempts but follow the procedures as outlined in Yahoo Air Layering. This is how ewe make arrange trees in FL, all orange trees. Good luck.

How do i dye a lilac satin jacket navy? what sort of dye do i use?
Becareful due to it being satin %26quot;If it is silk satin, it%26#039;s easy to dye (use an acid dye). If it%26#039;s cotton satin, it%26#039;s also fine to dye so long as there%26#039;s no more than 10 percent spandex/lycra in it. There%26#039;s a type of dye you can use with polyester satin but you have to boil it with the cloth for an hour - which is likely to shrink your jacket. They can get huge. They%26#039;d appreciate much space. More than 8 feet.
Reply:i planted ours 8 feet apart about35 years ago its almost a solid wall of lilacs now . they are beautiful when they bloom.i have all different colors.sorry i meant 25 years ago too lazy to change it ha
Reply:It would depend on what type and size of lilac you have. If you have the average lilac bush/tree and you want to use them as a wall you would plant them 3 to 4 feet apart. If you want them to remain seperate 6 feet would be the best.
Reply:If planted as a screen or hedge, you can put them as close as six feet apart, otherwise leave 12 to 15 feet between plants to allow for unrestricted growth.

I just purchased a lilac dress. What color shoes should I buy?
I would go with white or silver.
Reply:From a fellas point of view lilac, white would look tarty, black to severe.Lilac is not a good colour to co-ordinate.
Reply:maybe white, black, or lilac
Reply:I just had a mental picture of a pair of tan flats. Maybe that%26#039;s too specific...but a light tan or beige would be ideal. I love lilac- good choice!

Someone has put a lilac powder in my petrol tank and my car has now broke down, what is it?
its ground up barney, thank god,,i hated that bloody dinosaur..
Someone has put a lilac powder in my petrol tank and my car has now broke down, what is it?
Lilac powder? Is that a body talc? Well either way, your filter sock at the sending unit is now most likely plugged, your fuel filter after the sending unit is plugged, and the fuel tank is contaminated and will need cleaned thoroughly. The fuel lines cleaned out from the tank to the injectors, and if you get really lucky, your injectors will not have to be replaced. Who did you tick off?
Reply:how and why and what were they doing in your petrol tank? that might help distinguish what it was!!!! is it soap powder?
Reply:You%26#039;ve upset someone then,
obviously lol .....
Reply:not sure but I have heard of people putting all sorts in the petrol tank, from sugar, used cooking oil to fizzy drinks!!
Don%26#039;t run the engine, if you do, the pipes that carry the fuel to the cylinder head, injectors, valves etc will get damaged and it will cost loads to repair. There is a fuel filter on the car so that may get clogged and the car will stall so don%26#039;t worry too much. You will need to flush the tank or maybe replace it (fuel pump in the tank) along with the fuel filter. Not a big job.
Reply:it%26#039;s a powder that is lilac in colour
Reply:Could be powdered soap or maybe even a body powder.... maybe chalk.....
Reply:Should have a locking petrol cap!
Reply:wan*ers!
Reply:If the powder is sugar based it will kill the alcohol in the petrol as well as block the fuel system , you will need to have the whole system cleaned out , somebody does not like you very much , its an old trick from way back
Reply:that what ever that was put into your fuel tank, has worked it%26#039;s way into your fuel pump, and started to plug o lot of the fuel filter screens, fuel filters.
You are going to need to drop the fuel tank, thurroly clean it out, replace ALL fuel filters, clean out the pump, and once expose every ting to fresh fuel
Reply:Lilac powder is also used in candle making as a fragrance...It could be a cube too...
Reply:How do you know the power is lilac coloured, or for that matter powder, if it%26#039;s in your gas tank?
Did it fail to start straightaway / very quickly, or after you drove it for a while? If it%26#039;s the former, the only thing I can think it%26#039;d be is detergent. There are plenty other things that would screw up your car, but most wouldn%26#039;t kill it immediately unless you had an almost empty tank, they%26#039;d take a little while to work thru your fuel system. Detergent is %26#039;wetter%26#039; than petrol (and water, that%26#039;s why it cleans stuff) so it%26#039;d actually be absorbed by the petrol, and consequently would work its way thru your fuel system very quickly. If you have residue about, take a tiny bit and put it on your tongue, see if it tastes soapy.
Also, what ponyboy said.

CAn I prune my lilac bush this late in zone 5?
no
CAn I prune my lilac bush this late in zone 5?
Remove faded flowers right after blooming. From October onward thin out weak and crossing branches . If you want to rejuvenate an overgrown bush cut it down 2 - 3 ft above ground level during the winter(dormant season)Following that however it will take 2 or 3 years till your lilac blooms again. Lilacs bloom on last year%26#039;s growth. From July onward suckers should be removed as close to the roots as possible.
Reply:You can trim it now but you will lose many flowers next spring. The flower buds for next spring have already been set on your bush and you will be pruning a lot of those off.
Reply:If you prune now you won%26#039;t have any flowers next year. I would wait and prune next year right after they get done blooming.
Reply:You may not get flowers next spring. I%26#039;d wait til then and prune after it blooms.
You can also thin a lilac. Trim out extra branches at ground level. Trim out older ones, any that are crossing, any that are puny.
Here%26#039;s a good article

Reply:I would, I have many lilac bushes, I prune whenever I want, if they get too big. The only thing, blooms come on new growth, so don%26quot;t prune just before blooming time in spring.

My wedding colors are lilac and white...what other color can go with these?
I personally would go with Seafoam Green (very light in color). Other colors that I think would look good would be Canary Yellow (a very pale yellow), Smoke (a gray color), and Silver. But honestly, I think two colors is enough.
You can also check out this site.... http://www.blissweddings.com/wedding-col... It allows you to drop and drop colors of your choice into a box to compare and contrast colors. :)
Good luck!
